Wordwooze Redux
The term wordwooze was invented by science fiction writer Fritz Leiber in his (circa 1958) novel The Silver Eggheads, a futuristic satire of the publishing world. Wordwooze referred to a particular brand of wordmill as well as the type of prose it produced, which had the effect of rendering readers a bit woozy and feeling somewhat unsatisfied after indulging in it. Although its founder selected this site's name in a moment of perverse whimsy, doubtless inadvisably, rest assured Wordwooze.net studiously tries to avoid inducing narcosis by only providing content of substance.
This is actually the second incarnation of Wordwooze on the Internet, hence the addition of Redux to the name. In its previous life it was Wordwooze.com, and it contained over 150 pages of specialized news feeds plus many of the public domain texts that are included in the current edition. The original domain name was allowed to lapse in 2003, and since then Wordwooze.com has been reduced to a pseudo directory (of what is not very clear to the casual observer).
The current offerings fall into five categories: Language Arts, Literature, Poetry, History, and Musings. Visit the sitemap to see the complete list, which is arranged alphabetically within each category. New material is added periodically as time and inspiration allows.
One reason that this site isn't upgraded more often is that it has four siblings that require TLC too. Depending upon your interests, you are invited to visit any or all of them.
